At the office of Jennifer Perkins, DDS, we aren’t fans of cookie-cutter dentistry. We’re a privately owned dental practice. So we don’t worry about pleasing a board of directors. In our office, the team and I, we have a couple of slogans that we strive to live by everyday. The first one is for our patients. There's a quote downstairs on the wall, the first that they see and it says there are no strangers here, just friends who haven't met, and we truly believe that. Everyone who walks in the door is a potential friend. They may not know it yet, but we're going to get to know all of our patients, and we're going to make them comfortable in the fact that we're taking the time to actually get to know them. They become very important to us. The second slogan that we work by, that we share with our patients also is that it's never too late for the smile of your dreams and again, I have found that with some of my older patients, they've put their children first. They've put their grandchildren first, and now it's their time and so we want them to know that even if you are 70 or 80 years old there's no reason not to have a beautiful smile. Thanks to her background as a high school science teacher and her 20-plus years in dental practice, Dr. Jennifer Perkins is great at explaining even complex procedures in understandable terms. She and our all-female staff excel at making you and your family comfortable. We can offer The most rewarding part of dentistry, to me, is helping patients gain self-confidence through a new smile and also alleviating fear from patients and letting them get work done that they wouldn't do otherwise. I have a couple of patients, little ladies who are in their 80s, who disliked their smiles and at the ripe old age of 82 decided to wear braces. They decided to do Six Month Smiles because it was time for them to do something for themselves. We've had other patients that were in their 40s that didn't like their smile and they hid their smiles and their personalities and we did full-mouth reconstructions. Now they're smiling all the time. Their personalities just begin to shine. They're cracking jokes, they're cutting up, they've opened their personalities up to everybody. Then sometimes we see patients and it's not a cosmetic issue. We see patients that have been in pain and we're able to alleviate that for them, or we see patients who have high anxiety levels and they have put off dental work because it's just frankly too terrifying to walk into that dental office to get necessary work done. If we can make them comfortable through sedation dentistry or just spending extra time with them and making sure that they're aware that they're in charge of the pace of the appointment, not us, and they get some confidence. We get the job done. We get necessary treatment done for them. Then they don't have to be in pain and they sometimes even realize that they don't have to have that fear. After 22 years practicing dentistry, Dr. Perkins still gets excited about restoring a patient’s oral function. It’s even better when she can transform a patient’s appearance by helping them attain their “dream” smile. She takes special pride in her ability to relax anxious patients and build their confidence by using dental sedation to complete their treatment. For many patients, dental sedation is a real game-changer! I don't consider these ladies just people I work with. They are my very dear friends. We all know that we can count on each other for anything. Whatever the job is, we're going to work together to get it done as a team. Everybody does whatever they need to. If someone's having a bit of an off day, the rest are there to pick up the slack. We help each other and we're all actually good friends.
