Jeff Pentz has directed Health IT operations for University Health Center at UGA since 2002. His IT career started as a programmer writing data analysis software for the forest industry. He developed linear program models for lumber and plywood mills and the trucking industry. Jeff ran an IT consulting business for 15 years offering programming, training, and networking services. He taught programming, database, and desktop courses at Athens Technical College, for University of Georgia Faculty and Staff, and for healthcare, government agencies, and private enterprise. Jeff's first job at the University of Georgia was IT client support and staff training for 28 departments. For two years he managed client support operations for the Terry College of Business, and has directed Health IT operations for the University of Georgia Health Center since April 2002. Jeff is located in Comer, Georgia, and provides training, computer hardware and software service, and support throughout north Georgia. Jeff has helped others learn to use computers since 1979. He started teaching computer classes professionally in 1984 at Athens Area Technical Institute where he developed several courses covering Visual Basic, Pascal, and numerous desktop applications. He designed custom classes for government and business users through the University of Georgia's Community Education Programs in their Computer Training Services Labs, at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education.  He taught classes for the Learning in Retirement program at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education and business application computer classes for DeKalb County government employees from 1994 to 1998.
