Is Pensacon a family friendly event? Pensacon welcomes families and attendees of all ages. Some panels and special events such as after hours parties may not be appropriate for minors, so parents please use discretion when bringing your children to select events. Sunday is designated as Family Day, and we will have special panels and activities designed for kids to enjoy. Our staff and volunteers work hard to ensure a safe, friendly, and fun environment for all. Due to the number of attendees and the Bay Center’s safety policy, strollers are not allowed in the Bay Center on Saturday. Pensacon and the Bay Center reserves the right to deny strollers entry on other days according to attendance, space in the facility, and other factors. Mission Statement Pensacon strives to be all inclusive by seeking out popular artists, actors, writers, and creators that all contribute to their respective fandom and allow fans to interact with them as well as to create events that cater to all types of fans. Pensacon creates a safe environment for all types of fandom to express themselves, free from bullying or harassment. Pensacon provides a place for fans to form a community in which they have the best experience possible. Pensacon endeavors to be a unique event in Pensacola by reaching out to the local community to create an environment that we would never be able to achieve by ourselves. Pensacon Statement of Values Pensacon was created with the idea of making a convention where people of all types of fandoms can enjoy interacting with popular representatives of those fandoms and with each other. As such, we are guided by a set of principles in every decision we make. Pensacon will create a safe, fun, and welcoming environment for all types of fandoms. Pensacon has a strict non-discrimination policy regarding gender, sexual identity, age, race, color, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, physical appearance, veteran status, or interest in any specific fandom. If you are subjected to unacceptable behavior, please contact a staff member or volunteer immediately. If a staff member or volunteer is not readily available or if you feel threatened in any manner, please proceed directly to any of the Pensacon information booths, merchandise booths, ticket booths, or vendor booth identified as a Safe Haven. 3) All prop firearms must be incapable of firing projectiles and have an orange cap on the barrel. Projectiles or any type of ammunition are forbidden. BB guns, paintball guns, dart guns, blow guns, and water guns and their accompanying ammunition will NOT be permitted. Nerf guns are allowed, but ammunition of any kind (foam or otherwise) is prohibited. Nerf guns must pass weapons check and will have triggers zip-tied to prevent guns from firing. Pensacon reserves the right to modify the weapons policy if situations require it. Pensacon is dedicated to helping the community by supporting and partnering with the following non-profit charitable organizations. The Children’s Home Society of Florida is an agency that helps children find foster homes and adoptive parents in a safe enviornment. Their dream is: To help children grow up safe, healthy and prepared for life. Pensacon’s goal is to provide a safe haven for all, including families and children. Because of this, Pensacon is a supporter of the Children’s Home Society and has provided free passes for the agency to provide to their families. In 2016, the Children’s Home Society displayed a motorcycle they were auctioning as a fundraiser and sold tickets for the auction. They brought in over $1,000 at Pensacon. Pensacon also donated a poster with the autographs of over a dozen celebrity guests for them to use in their auction. We look forward to continuing to offer the Pensacon experience to these families as well as providing fundraising opportunities in the future.
