So off on our new adventure we went. I purchased a pregnant Lamancha doe and a little buckling. Once she kidded and I started milking her….we had fresh goats milk for our little one. We actually had enough for him, Brad and I, our older 2 boys and plenty to spare. Well I could not stand for it to go to waste so I started looking into cheese making, but at that time was not catching my interest. I looked in to soap making and found my self on the computer for hours learning how to make it, where to buy supplies, how to store them, and all the other scientific information that goes along with soap making. I then took classes and started making soap. We loved it! Our family and close friends loved it also. When their soap was gone they were asking for more. They started telling their friends about it and phone calls started coming in for soap. I was giving it away and then realized I have to buy more ingredients…(I may not be good at math, but did however catch on to the fact that I could not afford this) When I explain to them I had to charge them for the soap to my surprise they still wanted it. So off to soap making I went. The weirdest thing happened, I found myself learning to make goats milk lotion and lip balm. I gave my customers samples and they loved it. I started to get requests for new products. Soon people started coming to me with a skin problem, or other certain needs, and I quickly went to working on new products. With each new product came research and development. I willingly got some people to start trying the products and once approval came in from all who tried them or the person who was doing the requesting I then put it through a safety check and shelf life test. After all of the information is gathered and finished I then place it on the “for sale” list. My 4 boys, husband, and the rest of my family most have the softest skin in the area. I studied to be a medical assistant and was training to be a nurse. I really enjoyed working for the same Physician for over 9 yrs, but something was missing. In 2003 before I gave birth to our 3rd son we realized that the years go by to fast and that we wanted our children to experience what we did…mom being the care giver, not the day care.
