Patriot Service Dogs
Our Mission
Patriot Service Dogs understands that each of us is different but equally valuable. We are aware that at different times in our lives, each of us may need some help.
One must find the courage to ask for assistance; no one should do it alone. It is our hope that not only will our service dogs provide a person with a measure of independence, but that we, as an organization, can be a source of continuing support. Together we can change lives.
To help individuals with mobility-related disabilities or PTSD who wish to gain independence through the assistance of a specially trained service dog
To provide all teams (veteran + dog) with individualized training, in hopes that with their new found independence, they will reach out to others
To educate and create awareness among the general public regarding disabilities and service dogs and the benefits that well-trained service dogs provide to people with disabilities
If you have a desire to help, we will gladly find a place for you in the Patriot Service Dogs Family - just call (904) 777-1371 or (352) 514-9903.
Patriot Service Dogs is a 100% volunteer 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping our disabled military community gain a sense of independence through a partnership with a well-trained service dog. PSD was founded in 2009 by Susan Bolton and Julie Drexel and 5 other dedicated volunteers and has grown to over 100 active volunteers. We have offices in Jacksonville, FL and Belleview, FL. If you would like to join our team, please let us know! We have many volunteer opportunities available.
Patriot Service Dogs relies on volunteers to raise and train puppies for about 18 months to 2 years before the dogs receive their specialized training. We are always looking for people in the Jacksonville, FL area who are willing to join our efforts to accomplish our mission. PSD also initiated a program called W.O.O.F. at Lowell Correctional Institution, a women’s prison in Ocala, FL, where a group of inmates are paired with service dogs-in-training and are responsible for their care and training. Weekend raisers provide the prison pups with real world experiences.
