PATENT PRO'S, INC., COCONUT CREEK

The protection provided by your European Community Trademark is in danger Being US patent attorneys operating through a Swiss-based firm, we're able to represent Swiss and US clients (companies and individuals) without limitation. We can represent clients from any country before the US Patent and Trademark Office. It's most often the case that the battle for the global market of a product or service is won or lost in the United States. If a company's US intellectual property is lost, the war for the global market is all but over. Da Vinci Partners is thus uniquely positioned in Europe to provide this US focused, face-to-face advice to a company's management, at a place and time of their convenience. Nevertheless, we are also one of the first firms to be registered with the Swiss patent office for the preparation, filing and further processing of Swiss applications. Mr. Moetteli is also among the first registered Swiss patent attorneys in the city of Arbon, the seat of the new Swiss Patent Court. In addition, we have at least one licensed European patent legal representative or attorney in order to be able to handle European patent filings and prosecution directly. Consequently, although we are specialized in US patent law, local work is an important part of our daily practice. And for our non-Swiss or non-US clients who care to take advantages of the tax benefits of a Swiss holding company to hold and license their intellectual property assets, we can represent this company before all competent international patent and trademark authorities. If you've received a warning letter from a competitor, alleging that you infringe a US patent, we can intervene to help you assess the risk. We can study the facts and the law, and render an opinion that helps you show that you've made a good faith effort to avoid infringement or to determine that the patent asserted against you is invalid. The formal, written opinion of a US patent attorney-at-law is advisable to help you avoid triple damages and having to pay the legal fees of the other side. Walter Maiwald, born 1951, studied chemistry and English at the University of Hamburg and Imperial College, London. He took his German patent bar examination in 1985 and his European patent attorney's examination in 1987. He is a registered German Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney and European Trademark and Design Attorney. Walter Maiwald founded his own law firm in 1993, which grew to be one of Germany's biggest IP practices. Until 2010 he was managing director of Maiwald Patentanwalts GmbH. He joined Da Vinci Partners in 2014. He holds an Engineering degree, a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, and a Masters in International Management (with emphasis on Doing Business in China). In addition, hes followed courses on Chinese Patent Law, including co-editing a well-known manual on industrial property. He is also trained in mediation and arbitration through WIPO courses. His technical specialty is mechanical, IT, software, medical devices, and sports products. He is particularly specialized in preparing freedom to operate, invalidity and unenforceability opinions on US patents, as well as preparing US and International patent and trademark applications. His experience preparing legal opinions has trained him in the ability to objectively assess infringement and validity, all helpful to fair and thoughtful determination in arbitration as well as in providing strategic litigation advice. Knowing where the strengths and weaknesses of a case lie help in mediation efforts as well. Mr. Moetteli is a member of the Association of International Business Lawyers (AIBL), the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). He's been inducted into the , well-known honorary legal fraternities. He's also the founder of the North American Attorney's Association in Geneva and a former member of the managing committee for the Association of International Business Lawyers. He's lectured for the Da Vinci School of Intellectual Property, the Swiss Patent Office, WIPO (as a WIPO Patent Expert) and the European Commission, and has served as IMD faculty for the Program for Executive Development (PED). He's published several articles on the subject of intellectual property law as well. Prior to moving to Switzerland, Mr. Moetteli worked in the intellectual property section of Haynes & Boone LLP, a large general litigation firm with offices in Texas, Washington D.C. and Mexico City. He earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence
