Parkland Buddy Sports provides quality sport programs for special needs children and young adults in an empowering, challenging and loving environment where the emphasis is on having fun, making friends and realizing full potential. Our volunteers, both students and adults, learn patience, tolerance and the ability of one person to change the life of another. They also learn that by creating an environment void of physical, social and cultural barriers there are “NO LIMITS”. The program was started in 2002 with one activity, Soccer Buddies. At its inception, the program enrolled 20 players and 30 student volunteers. Today, through multiple programs, Parkland Buddy Sports has enrolled hundreds of special needs players from all parts of South East Florida. – this is the mantra of Parkland Buddy Sports, dedicated to providing the best in sport programs for special needs children. The program builds skills, confidence, self esteem, and a lifetime devotion to sports and fitness. Parkland Buddy Sports provides sponsorship opportunities for individuals and businesses. 100% of all funds raised by sponsorships are allocated to the programs to buy equipment and uniforms, and to fund year-end celebrations. Parkland Buddy Sports, Inc. is a not for profit organization that offers well-structured sports programs for children and young adults with special needs. Regardless of the mental and/or physical diagnosis, the Buddy program welcomes children ages 4 to young adult. The sports programs consist of once weekly (Saturday or Sunday) activities and games. Each player is paired for the entire season with their own “Buddy”, who in most instances, is a typical student volunteer for an entire season. Through the shared encouragement of all the Buddies, our players with special needs and their families are able to experience the joys of their athletic endeavors. The success of the Parkland Buddy Sports programs is entirely due to the team effort and dedication of our Board of Directors, coaches and volunteers. One of the truly remarkable aspects of our programs is not just the positive feedback from the families of our players, which has been amazing, but also the heartfelt reaction from our student and adult volunteers and their families. Our players live for that one hour each week when they come out for game day. There are no words to describe how you feel when you see the smiles and hear the laughter of our players, volunteers and families.
