PALM YOGA, INC.
TAMPA, FLORIDA

:  In these classes, you will learn how to breathe as well as the details of the poses and how to perform them properly. We use props in YFBT to have the pose fit your body, not vice versa.  This is very important, especially if you have special needs or injuries.  Your instructor will offer both verbal and physical adjustments to help you experience the best pose possible for each student.  We cover anatomy and kinesiology (movement) to make you more aware of your body and safe, comfortable ways of moving in and out of the poses.  If you are new to yoga or have limited experience, this is the best place to begin your yoga practice.  It is different for everyone, but most people stay in Yoga for Beginners for at least 6 months. This class is a step up from our Yoga for Beginners class. Here you will refine the basic poses, learn new poses, and understand how to apply what you learn in class to life outside the studio. All Levels also introduces new breathing techniques (pranayama) to students and incorporates some meditation instruction, as well. Appropriate for all students, we customize the practice to meet the needs of each student with props and/or pose variations. Whether you are in the Flow class or Technique class, our instructors are skilled in helping students of all levels feel comfortable, learn the poses, and enjoy the practice of yoga in each and every class!   You are expected to know the basics of the poses in these classes as we delve deeper into the poses and anatomical movement.  Level 1 & 2 Yoga Technique students relearn the basics at a deeper level and get the opportunity to practice more complicated forward bends, back bends and twists, arm balances and inversions.  Again, we use props to encourage the body to explore its “edge” and support deeper stretching.  We also introduce yogic philosophy in these classes to inspire you to take your practice ‘off the mat’ and make a difference in your personal and/or professional life. The Palm Yoga Flow classes are a place for you to practice the form and function of the poses learned in our Technique classes. The pace is faster than our technique classes because you will flow from one pose into the next without as much instruction, sometimes through a vinyasa and sometimes not. However, Palm Yoga’s hallmark style is alignment oriented classes and we carry this important principle into our Flow classes to keep all students safe from injury. This style of practice generates body heat to help you release toxins through sweat and develops core and upper body strength. It is a great way to either start or let go of your day and get your creative juices flowing. You will love the way it creates an alert calm in your body! I've been practicing with Rebecca at Palm Yoga for a little over a year. As a professional athlete conjoining mind and body and being able to navigate stillness through breathing is a level we all aspire to reach and maintain. Rebecca has helped me cultivate a heightened sense of awareness in my body through asana practice that carries over to my performance in training and competition. Her knowledge of the poses and proper technique is so extensive I never leave a session without learning something new about yoga and about myself. Even her restorative yoga sessions (especially ones that feature the yoga wall!) jump start my body's recovery so that I can later push it to its limits. I truly believe she has helped improve me as an athlete, person, and helped contribute to my successes bringing home two gold medals this year at the Rio Olympic Games. Palm Yoga is worth a try, it's life changing. I have been taking classes at Palm Yoga for over three years and it has been one of the best experiences of my life. Becky is an excellent instructor who takes the time to learn what your strengths and weaknesses are and offers poses to meet your needs. At 65, I am now more flexible, have better balance, and a stronger core than when I was 50 due to my participation at Palm Yoga. I’ve been a member for five years and can’t believe how much better I feel. The instructors are fantastic. I get individualized attention in making my poses the best they can be as my practice improves. I don’t know how they have the patience to continually give me the hope that someday I will be able to do a tree pose without falling over. I love my experiences at Palm Yoga! The instructors are very knowledgeable and encourage you to make the most of your practice. The experiences gained will go well beyond the studio. The studio offers something for everyone. If you are looking for an authentic studio to start practicing or to continue your practice, this is it. Your practice will be customized to fit one person…you!
