Oregan Tool, Inc., began its journey in 1947 when Joe Cox founded it in Portland, Oregon, initially under the name Oregon Saw Chain Company. Inspired by observing how timber beetle larvae broke down wood, Cox introduced an innovative design for saw chains that set the stage for a company dedicated to creating high-quality replacement parts and equipment across various industries. The company underwent several name changes to reflect its evolving identity-from Oregon Saw Chain Company to Omark Industries in 1957, and later to Blount International after being acquired by Blount, Inc. in 1985. This period marked a pivotal shift as Blount steered the company towards a more focused approach on manufacturing, rather than construction work. Ultimately, in an homage to its roots, it adopted the name Oregon Tool, maintaining strong ties to its foundational heritage.
