I just moved back from New York City where I worked at a research cli nic providing services to help alleviate depression, studied brain function, and mental illnesses. I obtained a bachelors degree in general psychology at FIU and a masters degree in clinical psychology at Columbia University. Previously, I worked in multiple research labs in Miami helping children with anxiety and behavioral issues. These experiences helped me witness the power of interventions in improving lives. The mind is powerful! I am also very passionate about feeling beautiful, self-care, and connecting people with positive thinking. I am excited to share my knowledge of the mind and self care with the black community in order to reduce stress, help meditation practices, and guide Self alignment. Hi, I am Marsha! Mom, epidemiologist, and health enthusiast. I love researching health disparities and want to use my research to improve the quality of life for all women and men who are underserved. Going into black communities in Miami, South Carolina and DC, I learned that many women do not exercise because of self-imposed barriers (e.g. hair), misconceptions (e.g. exercising is for weightloss). Hearing this made me realize that I needed to incorporate my work in nutrition and physical activity to address these limitations in the black community and promote “being healthy”.I have published a few articles related to health disparities and chronic disease while doing my PhD at the University of South Carolina. Prior to this I worked in Little Haiti and provided nutritional advice to overweight men and women while completing my Masters degree in Public Health and Health Service Administration.
