About Old Hat Deep Sea Fishing Charters: While attending college I got offered a job on a charter boat out of Haulover. I started as a mate and gradually worked my way up the ladder. Getting my captains license at the age 21 made me the youngest captain to ever run a charter boat out of Haulover, and now the owner of the “Old Hat”. The Fishing Charter Boat "Old Hat" The “Old Hat” is a custom 41’ Hatteras Sportfishing Yacht, tournament rigged and ready to fish. It is powered by twin Cummins diesel engines. Electronics include: Color fish finder / sounder, GPS, and Radar to keep us out of the rain. When we hook-up, the First Mate will hand you the rod and help you with your technique if necessary. If the fish you catch is a good eating fish, or good for bait, and meets the minimum size requirements, it will end up in the cooler. If the fish is a game fish, and meets the minimum size requirements, it is up to you if you want to kill it! If you catch a trophy fish and want it mounted, tell the crew. You don’t have to kill the fish to have it mounted; a replica can be made from a measurement. Normally, we are either *trolling or *live baiting to catch fish.
