THE OCEAN KINGS STORY Hello. My name is Marcel Lecours, founder of Ocean Kings. Having grown up in South Florida, the sport fishing capital of the world, I’ve been fishing the waters between Miami and the Keys my entire life. I’ve always loved everything about fishing; the challenge, the surroundings, the techniques and the gear. The one thing I was never too crazy about was the clothes. It’s always either a button up shirt with a zillion flaps and pockets, or a long sleeve T-shirt plastered with some guy’s sailfish painting on it. It seemed there just weren’t any cool options out there for the saltwater fisherman. So I decided to do something about it. Being a graphic designer, I said, “if nothing cool exists out there, I’m just going to design it myself”. So in 2012 I created the Ocean Kings brand. The philosophy behind Ocean Kings is simple: design kick ass clothes that look just as cool on the street as they do on the water. No more paintings of soaring sailfish. No more lime green oxford shirts covered in buttons, pockets and velcro. We borrowed a page from the skaters, surfers and snowboarders and designed a line of apparel that performs great, but won’t make you look like a tool. That’s because Ocean Kings is more than just a brand of fishing clothes, it’s a lifestyle brand.
