Ocala Bicycle Center (OBC) opened for business in August of 2005. It was the goal of local owners, Dan and Carrie Miller, to operate a honest family owned business to provide superior service to local cyclists. Both owners, engineering graduates from Georgia Tech, understand the importance of great customer service and attention to detail in order to meet our customers expectations. Dan and Carrie chose Ocala for two reasons: (1) a great place to raise their three children Megan, Ryan, and Cody and (2) year round cycling in a great community.
Now eleven years strong, OBC has become an all inclusive cycling center. Offering bicycles from the top manufacture in the industry, TREK, we are able to meet all your bicycle and accessory needs for cycling venues including road, mountain, comfort, tri and BMX. OBC also offers repairs and maintenance on all models of bicycles by our dedicated and experienced repair center staff. Carrie, co-owner, has been certified to perform bicycle fits (road, tri, and mountain) to ensure you are performing at your best on your bicycle. At OBC, all our employees are avid cyclists so you can be assured that you are getting advice based on experience.

Dan is our owner, mechanic, and sales guy! Dan has a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering and a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech. Dan worked in the petroleum pipeline business for several years before deciding to make bikes his life! Dan volunteers his "spare" time coaching youth football and basketball in Ocala and restoring classic cars.
Carrie is our owner, sales, inventory, accounting, marketing, and everything else it takes to run a business person. She has a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech. Carrie can be found many mornings riding at Santos or through downtown Ocala before work or running and would love to get more ladies in Ocala on bikes!!!
Carrie has been a certified Level 1 (road and mtb) & 2 (Tri) bike fitter since 2007!! With hundreds of bike fits completed, she can help you. Carrie was trained by Michael Sylvester who is a leading fit consultant in the US. Mr. Sylvester has been doing fits over 20 years and owns a personal fit studio in Portland OR.

- Riding in mud is neither recommended nor good for your bike, but sometimes the ride or weather conditions force you to become a muck master. Skinny tires (1.7-inches wide or less) or treads that are designed specifically for mud will help. On the ride, before things jam up, stop, find a small stick and clean the mud from around your tires, brakes, derailleurs, etc. Cornering in the mud can be treacherous. Maintain control by using a more upright position and by not placing too much outward force on the tires. On climbs, remain seated as much as possible to eliminate tire spin. And, when you get home, clean your rig and check your brake pads and chain, parts that wear rapidly on muddy rides (it's a good idea to keep some new brake pads on hand in case yours wear out). Also, if you live in an area where riding in the mud is frequent and permitted, equip your bike with disc brakes (or consider a new bike with discs), as these outperform rim brakes in the muck.
