Oak Ridge Children's Academy establishes a new image and philosophy in the child care industry by focusing on the whole child, with respect, love, positive approach and meaningful assistance. Through conscious social interaction, Maritza’s qualified team, facilitate the children with new experiences that strengthen their emerging development. Over the years this positive approach has made a difference in children’s learning process, creating a most effective Teacher-Student interactions. In 1991 ORCA received the Gold Seal of Excellence from 4C in recognition of the excellent quality of daycare provided to the community’s children. The Academy participates in the USDA food program and also participates in the Nemours "Taking Steps to healthy success" Program.  The vision is, that child care facilities can be a role model to help give children quality education  to prevent obesity, good nutrition, physical activity and limiting screen time. Maritza says it best… "As part of this program we promote the use of nutritional and tasty food during our regular mealtimes, we try to help our children to establish good eating habits from a very early age" Good healthy food has been a cornerstone for the Academy since the day Maritza took over back in 1988 and there is a dedicated page covering the philosophy of good food on the website. The efforts have just recently been recognized by the ECELC Agency in Washington, who has written a high recommendation on the healthy eating program that the Academy has promoted for years.  Our philosophy is that it takes a village to raise a child and therefore parents and our staff work together to achieve these goals for the benefit of our children. The interaction between the children and our staff provide opportunities for children to develop an understanding of themselves and others,  and is characterized by warmth, personal respect and individuality, positive support and responsiveness. We provide the opportunity for the development of the self-esteem, social competence, and intellectual growth, which is our first goal. great resource that help us incorporate healthy physical activity and nutrition habits into our everyday routines When moms and dads drop off their children, they know we are helping their little ones’ brains and bodies develop and grow up healthy.
