Nursery Supplies Inc.® (NSI®), a pioneer in manufacturing plastic containers for the wholesale nursery industry, was founded as Farm Supplies by Theodore J. Guarriello Sr., an offshoot of a northern New Jersey farmers' cooperative. Initially marketing products like bushel baskets and seedling trays to the 'truck farm' industry around Metropolitan New York and Philadelphia, NSI strategically became the first U.S. producer of plastic nursery containers in the early 1960s. Under the leadership of Guarriello Sr., the company expanded its operations during the rapid growth of the wholesale nursery sector in the 1970s by establishing facilities on the west coast, first in Southern California and later in Oregon. With continual expansion in mind, NSI relocated its eastern base several times before ultimately setting in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. In 2000, a significant merger with The Lerio Corporation boosted the company's reach into the southeastern United States, accompanied by the opening of a manufacturing plant in Kissimmee, Florida. Lincolnshire Management Inc.'s acquisition in May 2005 marked a new era for NSI as it further developed an innovative focus on sustainability, incorporating recycled materials and bio-resins, while maintaining deep expertise in blow molding, injection molding, and thermoforming.
