NURSE NACOLE, LLC, ORLANDO

Hello, I'm Nacole Riccaboni and thank you for taking the time to visit my little world. I'm a bedside nurse here in sunny Orlando, Florida. I'm a Florida native, and nursing has always been a dream of mine. After many late nights of studying in 2011, I received my degree in Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) and passed my nursing boards. I was finally a registered nurse, what a long journey! I don't care what they say. Nursing school was the hardest thing I've done in my life. Like most new graduates, I didn't get the position I wanted initially. I originally wanted to work in the acute care setting. But due to my lack of experience, I had to work my way up to the intensive care environment. I ended up working in a progressive care unit (PCU) instead and ended up loving it. I learned foundations at a slower pace and was able to perfect my craft without the pressures of the intensive care setting. After a year of doing progressive care nursing, I felt I was mentally prepared to work in an intensive care unit (ICU). I applied to an intensive care unit, and I got the job. Even with the foundations of progressive care, I wasn't prepared for what followed. From mechanical ventilators to bedside procedures, to the drastic changes in patient conditions - I was overwhelmed! And by overwhelmed, I mean I was crying in the bathroom at work on a few occasions. It was an entirely different ball game. Luckily, I didn't give up, and I got into a groove after six months. There I was, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and wondering what was next in my nursing career. I was always fond of the nurse practitioner role in healthcare. I felt this role was suited my personality. I could provide plans of care and still interact with my patients but, on a more diagnostic level instead of simple bedside care. So there I was, stuck between finding a family-focused program and an acute-care focused program. Luckily, I found a program that offered both options and I'm loving my journey toward reaching that Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) gold ring. I love nursing, and my passion for helping others hasn't changed. I created this blog to provide nursing students and nursing professionals with simple and fast resources. In my opinion, nurses are similar to independent contractors. We set up and assemble our resources (based on our current floors and patient populations). I currently work full-time and do traveling nursing PRN. I work all over the state of Florida. I understand just how stressful nursing can be and what resources will help students and current professionals. . I'm always around, reading up on stuff. I feel people can never stop learning and evolving. Life is about experiences. In the end, this is a personal blog (my little world) which includes tools for helping the nursing community, both emotionally and technically. I'm not always right, but I'm always honest. Take what little pearls of wisdom you can and run with them. Only you can determine what your patients need and what resources will help you. I wish you the best of luck in your nursing journey. Oh, and all the credentials are on the right. Each year, I try to learn something new, and that usually equates to some type of certification. I love critical care and cardiology. My husband suffered a heart attack and subsequently needed a quadruple coronary artery bypass graft (4X CABG). This experience changed our lives and motivated me towards cardiovascular care and management. My son was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in March 2017. I'm by no means an expert in ASD, but you might see me mention his journey from time to time. I love my husband and son very much. They are often seen in my Instagram Stories. Check us out, laugh with us at . That's pretty much it. We are officially best friends now. So if you love nursing, look around, have fun and welcome to my little world. If you don't love nursing, look around, and something might bring the passion back into your life. Either way, welcome and I hope my blog provides you the guidance you are seeking. Nursing Product Reviews (Apparel/Resources)  Media Interviews & Business Inquiries As a wife and mother, I admit there are times when school came first. I'd miss Rocco (my son) doing something new or miss date night with my husband. There were moments I felt like I was a lousy wife and mother. I was being pulled in five different directions, and certain decisions had to be made. Do I stay home and complete my exam or do I drop Rocco off at therapy? Do I drive two-hours and go to clinical or have a lunch date with my husband? It was beyond overwhelming. This fantastic woman gave me advice, and it changed my entire perspective on things. Yeah, I'm gonna miss some things when I have varying priorities. In order to meet these expectations, I have to move a few things around and work within the chaos. I can't do it all. There isn't a perfect mommy's club or secret wife society out there judging my every move. And if there is, I'm assuming they don't like me. Listen, I'm just a girl, doing the best I can to juggle all these roles (both personally and professionally) and it's okay if I need to ask for help or rest. Don't allow your roles to take over your life. You decided to do this, now find a way to make it work. It's doable, you just need to be creative. Don't get lost in the semantics. Take it one day at a time, stay organized, and understand you are doing your best. And be proud you want more and are working towards a goal. Don't allow folks to belittle your goals or ambitions. It's okay to want more, that doesn't make you a bad person. A few months ago, a patient arrived at our unit with an endotracheal tube in place and secured. Fifteen minutes after arrival, he woke, became agitated, and immediately attempted to self-extubate. I tried to stop him and called for help, or screamed for it rather. At some point, five nurses were trying to stop him. We were holding his arms and legs down (he was also kicking), attempting to restrain him from hurting himself. Yet, he did exactly what he wanted (the guy was scary strong). He ripped that tube right out of his mouth and then said in a raspy voice...
