He has now turned his powers towards the education industry. Named after the king that unified all of Italy, he has some pretty big shoes to fill. An innovator in online higher education, David Leasure has led online university programs, problem-based approaches to online learning, and competency-based education. He has served as provost at Western Governors University, Colorado Technical University and Jones International University. Leasure earned bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in computer science and was associate professor of computer science at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, where he turned his interests from artificial intelligence to teaching and learning with technology. Leasure led the creation of CTU Online, served as CTU’s doctoral chancellor, and also as president of Jones International University. His core belief is that all students can learn and his passion is helping them and their institutions succeed. Dr. Steve Altman has served as President of three universities, as a professor of business management and consultant. He has worked in both the public and private sectors, and brings a wide range of experience in institutional policy, strategy, leadership, accreditation, marketing and financial management. His presidencies included appointments at New School of Architecture and Design, University of Central Florida, and Texas A&M University, Kingsville, where in each case he led significant enrollment and programmatic growth. Previous to these appointments he served as Provost, Associate, and Assistant Vice President at Florida International University and chaired the Department of Management. He is author or co-author of 13 books. He was one of the founders of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), where he served as Vice Chair. In addition to his university appointments, he has been a leading consultant in the education, healthcare, telecommunications and technology fields. Dr. Joseph Pepe has worked in higher education for over 25 years in varying executive roles. Dr. Pepe currently is a Health Officer for the Florida Department of Health as well as a Professor teaching administrative strategy, diversity, and leadership courses. Additionally, he teaches leadership development courses to help cultivate the current workforce for the State of Florida. In addition, he has led the acquisition, design, build and led nine campuses in multiple states and countries. One of his proudest accomplishments was establishing the first American Legion post on a college campus for veterans returning and reintegrating into college life. Dr. Pepe is currently researching social determinants that impact student performance and utilizing data in a proactive manner towards student success. Dr. Wolfe has held fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Council on Education. He has been honored as an “Old Master” by Purdue University. The knowledge, experience, and transferable skills gained over a range of organizational levels, within and across units and divisions in higher education institutions, as well as in public and private sector organizations and corporations has enabled him to lecture, consult, and write about policy, program development and evaluation, student achievement, academic leadership development, career and workforce development. He has owned and operated a human resources and educational consulting services and solutions firm for more than 45 years. Barb’s Baby Boomer (she prefers “Baby Bloomer”) generational status(specifically, numerous years in higher education) helps to explain and endorse her varied higher education experiences and assignments. In her words, “The more years and the more roles one completes, the more opportunities for professional epiphanies and adaptations. Her leadership and faculty roles have included the following fields: enrollment management, resource development (grants and fund raising), academic affairs, student services, career planning and placement, articulation and transfer, academic partnerships, educational services, and curriculum design. Her professorial faculty assignments span online, hybrid, blended, and on ground courses – teaching undergraduate and graduate classes, as well as directing dissertations and research projects. In addition, Barb is active with alumni and trustee boards, professional councils, and affiliated associations. She has served with private colleges, public community colleges, state colleges and universities, nonprofit educational organizations, and related consultant organizations. She confesses she is a “campus secret shopper,” with a penchant for posing as a prospective (or current)student for a “reality” campus view via websites, phone contacts, and face to face exchanges. Her approach is summed up, “there is nothing like a vicarious adventure to enhance one’s strategic thinking.” She is quick to endorse the various synergistic success stories emerging across today’s higher education environment and beyond. She lives by the T.E.A.M. acronym and cliché(her own definition) – Together Everyone Achieves More!
