In 2004 Schafer MTC bought the whole production of the former Picco Speed, a well established 1/8th scale racing car and stopped retailing. The focus was now on improving the Picco Speed, distributing, as well as import and export. Therefore the indoor race track was closed and transformed into a warehouse. The very same year the companys name changed to Shepherd Micro Racing. 2007 was to be a year full of changes and improvements as Shepherd Micro racing decided to take it one step further. The production of a completely new car was to be started and therefore one of the worlds best drivers Robert Pietsch joined the team in order to develop a complete new 1/8th scale on-road racing car together with Patrick Schafer. They both tested the prototype, on various races and several national and international successes followed. For instances a first and sixth position at the German nationals 2007, an 11th position at the European Championship in Lostallo Switzerland and a 15th position at the World Championship in Cordoba Argentina. 2008 was another succesful year with some national titles and the European B Championship title by Richard Volta. At the end of 2008 Robert Pietsch decided to go back to his home in Bavaria and left the company by mutual agreement. Patrick Schafer continued to develop on his own and a 1/10 touring car project was started. In 2011 Team Shepherd USA was formed by Greg And Mealie Esser and is the North Amercan importer for Shepherd Micro Racings line of RC cars and parts, and tires as well as the new Brilliant RC products.
