The company behind Swype Shield is Nuance Health, LLC. Dr. Kent New and Jennifer Sawyer New chose the name “Nuance Health” because of their belief that subtle changes can make a better world. Nuance Health believes that health and happiness is even more contagious than viruses, and spreading health and happiness within a community can lead to a better world! Together, this husband and wife team understands the science behind developing safe and effective products as well as the importance of good health. They understand that illness impacts your priorities and brings you down. It makes you less productive at work, makes you miss opportunities to do your best, and interferes with your happiness at home. The good news is that through science and compassion Nuance Health is developing products that will help you lead a more healthy, happy life! Swype Shield is just the first of many products developed by Nuance Health that are designed to help people lead healthy lives, allowing them the opportunity to be more productive and happier. We want to make a difference in the world by making it a happier and healthier place. However, we realize that there are people that are not as fortunate as us, which is why Nuance Health donates product, money, and support to those in need and organizations that inspire us. As we grow, our plan is to give back even more, because we strongly believe we must take an active part in making the world better. Since his teenage years, Dr. Kent New has been integrally involved with science and research. His quest to be a brain surgeon and researcher required fifteen years of graduate school and residency training. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 1989. He received a medical scientist scholarship to attend Georgetown University Medical School as an MD/PhD student from 1990-98. Dr. New earned a PhD in Microbiology & Immunology with a thesis on the use of viruses for gene therapy in the brain. In 2005, Dr. New accepted a position as assistant professor of neurosurgery in the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine practicing at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. In 2008, Dr. New accepted a position with St. Vincent’s Spine and Brain Institute in Jacksonville so that he could continue to work as a neurosurgeon, maintain involvement in research efforts, and help build Nuance Health. His commitment to help people lead healthier lives is evident daily as a surgeon, researcher, and family man. Ms. Sawyer New brings over 22 years of experience in various settings including hospitals, schools, private practices and businesses. Her combination of clinical expertise, sales, business consulting and entrepreneurship brings to the team a unique and practical background as well as solid perspectives in the healthcare field. Ms. Sawyer New was an elite, nationally and internationally ranked swimmer and competitor for over 15 years through her collegiate career. She has always been keenly aware of and concerned about maintaining peak performance and health. Graduating from the University of Virginia in 1989 with a BA in English, she then earned Masters’ degrees in Public Health and Social Work from Columbia University in 1994. Her clinical experience working with people of different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds as well as people with varied skill levels reinforces her desire to help people succeed in leading healthy lives. Her husband’s development of a cold and flu preventative perfectly coincided with her goals of helping individuals with their wellness concerns and the realization of their potentials. They were both very excited about the confirmation that Swype decreased or eliminated colds and flu in their three children over several years’ time as well as their friends’ positive experiences with the product. Together, they are building Nuance Health. Mrs. Borror has been involved in the IT industry for over 19 years to include a variety of different senior management roles and positions. She serves as Director of IT and Project Manager, managing the Company’s technology platforms and implementing best-practice programs to streamline infrastructure efficiency while maximizing return on investment. Shawn is familiar with all areas of the software development and project life-cycles and ensures adherence to project management principles for all company projects, including those projects not directly tied to IT initiatives. Shawn has been with the company since it’s initial start up phase and has a complete understanding of company strategic goals and understands the target audience. Shawn’s, varied technical experiences and expertise have been instrumental in the development of this company from it’s initial start up phase with no websites, no IT infrastructure or systems to it’s current state of small business. Having two kids in day care and one in elementary school while my husband and I work, viruses and germs are a common thing in our home. Swype has changed our lives—kept us from having sick days from work and school and helped prevent colds! Thank you!! I’m a 13 year old with a bad immune deficiency.
