It’s 1968, the year of the Tet. Jared finds himself in a place called Quang Ngai. Just a young private fresh out of training, Jared is suddenly in the heat of combat, following orders and taking lives. Meanwhile, he develops a compassion and need to understand the plight of the ordinary Vietnamese citizen. He seeks purpose where there seems to be none and quickly develops instincts that help him to survive while sustaining his most basic human principles. Not your typical war story, the book carries you along and encourages you to see, feel and share the experiences of a young soldier in combat
Bill Norris lives in Jacksonville, Florida with his wife Sheila. He is an entrepreneur who created businesses having operating locations in most states, across Canada and in Mexico. Bill is a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Lenoir Rhyne College (now University) in his hometown of Hickory, North Carolina. Although not a pilot in the war, he developed a love for flight from dozens of helicopter combat assault missions. He later earned his wings as a private pilot owning airplanes he flew primarily to expand his business interests.
Your book is fascinating. I am thoroughly enjoying it and find your descriptions quite colorful. You paint wonderful word pictures. As someone who covered national news during the Vietnam War, I like the way your book puts me in the center of action. It gives flesh, blood and texture to a history most of us lived through at a distance. It ought to sell a million.”
Lieutenant Colonel Jerome Domask (Vietnam Veteran, U.S. Army Retired (Hon), artist and businessman)
Larry Eckels (Vietnam Veteran, Sergeant Army Infantry, businessman)
Bob Short (Vietnam veteran, Army helicopter door gunner in 1968, owner of textile businesses in Southeast Asia)
Joshua Reyes (Musician, business manager)
These are sacred stories of men doing things a soldier in a soldier’s world must. Your book provides a unique window into that experience. Stories like this that are told well enough and that are powerful enough of people acting well in the worst of times can inspire and even transform the possibilities for all.”
Terry Maloney (Army officer severely wounded in Vietnam, writer, businessman)
A phenomenal story with a gripping representation of the human experience in the midst of an ugly war. Well written and compelling account of one man’s experience and values helps remind us what true heroism is all about. The profound grace that the author demonstrates is wonderful and engaging.”
Tina-Marie Zolezzi (Business administrator)
