Navizon network Who we are Founded in January 2005 by a team of veterans in the geolocation industry, Navizon (formerly Mexens Technology) is the maker of the first geographic positioning system to combine GPS, Wi-Fi and cellular phone signals. Navizon is available on most mobile platforms including Blackberry, iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian/S60 and Java phones and across all carriers around the world. Navizon's global database of Wi-Fi access point and cell id locations was built through an innovative crowdsourcing program by a community of more than one million registered users from all over world. A serial entrepreneur, he is responsible for Navizon’s leadership and innovation, bringing together a team of veterans in location-based services. In 2005 they introduced Navizon One, their flagship global positioning system for mobile phones. In 2011, they introduced innovative technology for indoor locating Wi-Fi enabled devices with Navizon Indoor Triangulation System (I.T.S.), and in 2012, Navizon Analytics was launched. Prior to Navizon, Cyril founded two geolocation technology companies: InfoSplit and Mexens Technology. Founded in 1999, InfoSplit provided IP services to determine the geographic location of online visitors. InfoSplit was acquired in 2004 by Quova. At Mexens, Cyril developed and launched the first geographic positioning system to combine GPS, Wi-Fi and cellular phone signals. This technology is used on millions of handsets today, and is based on a global database of Wi-Fi access point and cell id locations maintained through an innovative crowd-sourcing program that has grown virally. In 2005, Mexens Technology became Navizon. In 2006 and 2008, Navizon received patents for its geographic location methods for wireless devices. Dr. Gianni Giorgetti, Director of Research at Navizon, is responsible for overseeing research on novel positioning technologies and is in charge of coordinating the company's efforts to develop new software and hardware platforms for location based services. Dr. Giorgetti started working on wireless positioning systems in 2005 as part of his doctorate work. Prior to joining Navizon, he participated in several research activities at the University of Florence and Arizona State University. His research interests include low-power sensor networks, remote monitoring, mobile computing, RF-based collaborative positioning, and AOA estimation using directional antennas.
