The Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center started as most small programs do: as a local network of passionate individuals. Now, it is a consistently growing team of motivated volunteers and visitors who fight to protect these amazing animals. Work began protecting and conserving both threatened and endangered sea turtles as well as their ecosystems; including educational programs, research events, and sea turtle festivals that share the wonders of these exceptional creatures with the public. Due to the continued support and contagious passion from the local community, the conservation center was able to undergo a huge transformation to include a habitat for many aquatic creatures, including a sea turtle who cannot be returned to the ocean. The final renovations were completed in 2016 and since then has been able to capture the hearts of over 20,000 guests since August 2016. Our Mission In July 2016, the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center welcomed a blind Loggerhead sea turtle named Gigi. Gigi was rescued by Sea World in 1998 in St. Augustine, Florida. She was at Sea World for 18 years, where she began a journey of heroism, education, and storytelling. We appreciate the overwhelming support and the many requests to send in flowers and donations in memory of Gigi.
