Nancy Woodbury, MA, MS, RD, is a registered dietitian nutritionist specializing in whole food, plant-based nutrition for the prevention and reversal of chronic diseases. She helps people achieve optimal health through nutrition counseling, communications and public speaking. Since 2003, she has combined her clinical skills with wellness coaching to inspire busy professionals to make healthy lifestyle changes to have more energy to achieve their goals at work and in life. Her typical clients are people with good taste who love fresh, delicious food, but hate to spend hours in the kitchen and who struggle to find time to prepare nutritious and satisfying meals. They are totally over take-out and the usual lunch spots and need simple strategies to fuel a busy workday with healthy, flavorful foods. She provides customized nutrition recommendations to help people choose energizing foods to feel and perform their best every day. Registered dietitians are uniquely qualified to provide accurate and reliable science-based food and nutrition information to consumers and reporters. Nancy can evaluate and interpret nutrition research to put findings into context, distinguish between fact and fiction, and to help people make informed choices when it comes to food, nutrition and their health. She practices a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise and quality nutrition. As a lifelong advocate of a whole-food, plant-based diet, she enjoys shopping for nutritious foods, preparing healthy meals, and trying new restaurants that serve innovative, seasonal and organic cuisine. She supports food companies that practice sustainability, accurate nutrition labeling, and use high-quality ingredients in products. As a licensed and registered dietitian nutritionist, Nancy has worked for a leading health insurance company presenting corporate wellness seminars, teaching weight management courses, and providing health coaching to corporate executives. She often taps into the clinical experience she gained working in the cardiovascular units of top hospitals, including the Mayo Clinic, as a registered nurse, and more recently, as a registered dietitian at a large teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She began health coaching in 2003 as a registered nurse in the health insurance industry, and completed training in motivational interviewing and behavior change theories. She coached participants in wellness programs for diabetes, heart disease, nutrition, stress and weight management, and motivated them to eat healthier and to exercise. Many of her clients made permanent lifestyle changes, lost weight and discontinued medications for blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes. These positive outcomes confirmed her belief that nutrition is the key to good health and inspired her to pursue formal training in nutrition to be more effective in her work. Nancy earned a Master of Science degree in Dietetics and Nutrition from Florida International University and a Master of Arts degree in Mass Communication from the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida. She is a registered dietitian (RD) credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and she is a State of Florida Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist.
