The Stigma Free Florida campaign is a partnership between NAMI Florida, the state’s largest grassroots organization for individuals and families facing mental health challenges, and the HR Florida State Council, an affiliate of the Society of Human Resource Management. The mission of Stigma Free Florida is to change attitudes within workplaces regarding mental health and individuals with mental illness. This campaign targets leaders of businesses and organizations who are decision-makers and can influence the workplace culture. What is NAMI Florida? NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI Florida is the state organization. We have 27 local affiliates in Florida with volunteers who work to raise awareness and provide support and education. NAMI Florida Annual Meeting and Conference NAMI Florida's 2017 Annual Meeting & Conference will explore the top issues of our times – recognition and treatment of early psychosis, the alarming numbers of suicides and PTSD among veterans, a shocking rise in the number of Florida’s children being Baker Acted, and more. We’re offering a day of presentations geared specifically toward businesses – the impact of mental illness in the workplace, how to provide accommodations for employees with mental illness, how corporations are responding, and hiring incentives for veterans. We’re offering a special Mental Health First Aid training as well as a party to celebrate NAMI Florida’s 30th birthday.
