Tana Plyler – Owner, My Paint Party I first started conducting “paint parties” at “How Great Your Art”. I was a staff artist there for a year. After HGYA closed (sadly due to the plummeting economy), I continued getting calls from clients of HGYA. They wanted me to come to their home to have paint parties! Alas, {MyPaintParty) was born in 2008. I grew my clientele and started conducting parties in churches, schools, businesses and local area restaurants. The sky was the limit! I started doing fundraisers for local charity events as far as Lakeland, Florida and Pensacola, Florida. Around two years into this paint party wildfire, I began as Managing Artist of the “Paint Your ‘Art Out” program at the Visual Arts Center of Northwest Florida. While continuing my private paint party business, I was able to help the VAC put their program on the map as a wonderful tool to expose the community to the arts. In 2013, I was given the wonderful opportunity to be an art gallery director at Main Street Gallery of Art. I decided to put down roots with {MyPaintParty} and planted my business inside Main Street Gallery of Art. I now have a wonderful home for my travelling paint party business…however, I will never completely come off the road. I will still continue to bring the party to your location. But I have a wonderful art studio with a festive vibe that lends itself to creativity! But, like my mom always said, I am a gypsy at heart! Have art …will travel!!! I tell my adult students, “Lose the fear of doing the wrong thing on your painting. After all, it’s just a piece of canvas.” Ok…most of us, including artists, are not going to be the next Picasso. But why does that mean you can’t enjoy and appreciate the art that you yourself CAN create. And why does it have to be intimidating or frustrating for you? It doesn’t!
