About Mosswood Farm Store & Bakehouse Mosswood Farm Store & Bakehouse is family-owned and operated right here in Micanopy, FL. We opened our doors in 2007 as a sustainable living store and quickly morphed into a growing bakehouse, coffeehouse & bookstore with a passion for environmental-friendly practices including supporting the local economy, promoting sustainable and organic food practices, taking care in only sourcing quality natural, sustainable goods and making those products available to our customers. Through our shop and the products and books we carry, we are able to spread our values and knowledge we gain along the way with folks we encounter. We take pride in our work, we love what we are doing and it shows. We are as much a gathering place as we are a shop. We occasionally host meetings for local permaculture activists and the Micanopy Transition Initiative. Also, we are excited to begin hosting a monthly wood-fired pizza night and music jam in our backyard. Mosswood turns 9 in 2016 and we are excited to see what the next chapter in this venture brings. We opened our doors in July 2007 in a 1910 cracker style house on Cholokka Boulevard in Micanopy. As a family-owned and operated busines, our vision was and is to offer earth-friendly useful items that you can’t find easily anymore. The store is a little like an old general store. You’ll find locally-produced and/or handmade items such as vintage aprons, fair trade market baskets, beeswax candles and reusable shopping bags, as well as natural laundry soda, handmade soaps and heirloom vegetable seeds. You can also find a variety of local honey and our very own homemade jams, jellies and marmalades. We want to make natural, organic and sustainable living products available for those who want to live a simpler life and lessen their impact on the environment. ​ We stock an array of books about permaculture, sustainable/intentional communities, growing organic food, how-to-books on farm-steading, beekeeping, earth-oven building, baking artisan bread and cheese-making, plus many more. In 2008, we built an outdoor wood-fired brick oven and began baking organic artisan sourdough bread for sale on weekends in our shop. In 2010, we renovated our space to include a full coffee and espresso bar and a small but ever-expanding array of fresh sweet pastries, decadent brownies, an assortment of savory tarts and mini quiches baked in house daily.
