MOBILEQUBES LLC, NEW ORLEANS

The Story of MobileQubes and Press MobileQubes was created to solve the problem of on-the-go charging for smartphone users all over the world. Our phones were constantly running low on power, and we had been frustrated by the existing solutions out there. We got tired of carrying our charging cords in our pants pocket and searching for a wall outlet, or being tethered to a charging pole just to squeeze a little more juice into our phone batteries when we could. We also didn’t want to buy expensive external battery packs that we would have had to remember to charge and carry with us. We wanted something easy, affordable, and everywhere… so we built it. MobileQubes’ self-service, fully automated kiosks give smartphone users power where they need it—on-the-go and in their hands. No cords, no stopping, no problem. The Company Sean is an entrepreneur at heart. After spending seven years in business development, sales and marketing in the publishing and media world, he wanted to take his knowledge and experience and help create something new. Sean was on the founding team of adverCar, an OOH media start-up that connects brands with customers in targeted ways. After helping to grow the company, Sean set off on his next venture and founded MobileQubes in early 2012 where he currently serves as CEO. Jason is an experienced technologist with a passion for creating great products. Prior to MobileQubes, Jason was an engineer at Abbott Laboratories where he worked on automated medical diagnostic devices, and also served as a graduate research assistant at Louisiana State University developing nanotech-laser treatments for breast cancer. As COO, Jason leads product management, manufacturing, and business operations. Jacob manages MobileQubes' strategic partnerships as Director of Business Developmet. Prior to joining the team, he worked in business development for social dining startup, Dinner Lab. He came to New Orleans via Venture for America, an entrepreneurship fellowship that connects recent grads with early stage companies in developing cities. Outside of work, Jacob enjoys volunteering with the youth of New Orleans as well as adding to his music library. Mike Eckert is seasoned business executive with particular skills in start up businesses and early stage investing and financing.. Professionally he was a member of the launch team of The Weather Channel and served as its President and CEO for 14 years. He also served as Chairman and CEO of Pathfire, a technology start-up which grew into a leading digital asset management and distribution provider to media companies. Mike currently is actively engaged in various facets of the early stage business and investing eco-system: sitting on the Board of Directors of the national Angel Capital Association, chairing its Public Policy Committee; as Chairman of the NO/LA Angel Network in New Orleans, as a member of the Investment Committee of the New Orleans Start-Up Fund, and as Executive Mentor of the incubator cohort at the Propeller entrepreneur facility in New Orleans. He also served as Chairman of the Atlanta Technology Angels, leading the turn-around of a near defunct angel group and building it into one of the major angel investing groups in the US market; as a Fellow at Georgia Tech's VentureLab, on the Mentor-Steering-Committee at the Advanced Technology Development Center in Atlanta, on the Executive Committee of Start-Up Atlanta, and as Executive in Residence at the Idea Village entrepreneur center in New Orleans. He also is an active angel investor, a limited partner in a number of venture capital funds, and a board member of many early stage companies. Mike is a technology entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience. After a highly successful 12-year tenure at Sharp Electronics Corporation, he resigned to start his own company, Nexstar Inc., a wireless communications company. He sold Nexstar after a profitable 14-year venture, and quickly connected with the tech entrepreneurial circles in New Orleans. Mike is a co-founder of MobileQubes and helped to develop and launch the company. Currently Mike serves as a Board Member and Strategic Advisor.
