Mindo Futures, Inc., a compassionate non-profit founded by the visionary Amanda Gaetan at just 19 years old, is committed to uplifting underserved communities in Ecuador. Its roots trace back to the transformative work initiated by Sister Lucia, known affectionately as La Chia, who dreamed of empowering orphaned and abandoned children through education. At its heart are three robust programs: The Miracles Program directs vital educational resources at UEFTE in Mindo, ensuring that education is accessible to those who need it most. The Health program has been a pillar of community service since 2008, providing free medical care and improving lives regionally. Meanwhile, the Bridge Program represents hope for UEFTE students aspiring toward college by supporting academically talented individuals financially and logistically in their educational journeys. Since 1998, the organization has grown from its origin as Miracles of Mindo, a group formed to channel financial support for education after an inspirational meeting between Sister Lucia and an American businessman with ties to Miami schools. Recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) entity in August 2009, Mindo Futures has expanded on this foundational effort. The organization's efforts are evident in tangible community assets like new school buildings, tech-enriched computer labs, and an ongoing commitment to its annual medical mission that offers free healthcare services extending far beyond the local area. It provides comprehensive support tailored to students' diverse needs- from academic guidance to housing solutions and professional development paths. This meaningful work is guided by dedicated leaders like Jason Gaetan as Chief Operating Officer and Chael Soler as Vice President, who operate out of Coral Gables, Florida. Through its initiatives and passionate team, Mindo Futures continues to touch lives and foster a brighter future for the communities it serves.
