The development of agriculture is a main pillar of Zimbabwe’s growth strategies. It is natural for the Zimbabwe government to prioritize, as indeed it does, agriculture as a source of economic growth. Although agriculture contributes only 11-14 percent of GDP, according to government figures, (10% in 2014), the sector provides employment for some 70 percent of the population, and about 60 percent of all raw materials for the industry. About 45 percent of the country’s exports are of agricultural origin.
