Angela Love has been attending births since 1999. She worked for 5 years as a Registered Nurse in several Miami hospitals in Labor & Delivery Units. While she became competent at handling many high-risk, complex births, Angie was also frustrated with many hospital policies. Women in labor that would beg to walk around or eat something, but hospital policy didn’t allow it. Doctors doing unnecessary c-sections because of an important golf game, fishing trip, or hot date (no joke). Women were being told "you’re baby is too big, almost 10 pounds, we need to do a c-section" only to go through surgery and have a normal 7 pound baby. Frustrated with the lack of quality care, Angie decided to become a midwife. Angela attended the University of Miami to get her Master’s Degree as a Nurse-Practitioner with the specialty of Nurse-Midwifery. Nurse-midwives have the highest educational level possible in midwifery. Nurse-midwives deliver babies in and out of hospitals all around the United States and the world, write prescriptions, order ultrasounds, and provide gynecological care. They learn a lot about managing complications of pregnancy and birth as well as the care of women throughout their lifetimes.
