UPDATE: 7:13p — Incredibly, power is still out at Whispering Pines Elementary School. School officials, in an evening robocall, affirmed that school will be open on Tuesday. It is unclear why it is taking FPL so long to restore power, especially after promoting the massive improvements made to the power grid in this very area. FPL earlier Monday issued a press release touting improvements the company has made to the power grid in Boca Raton and Delray Beach following last year’s Hurricane Irma. The press release promoted FPL’s system of immediately routing power around troubled transformers to reduce or eliminate power outages.
