The concept for Mercury Z came from witnessing the acceleration of one of the biggest offerings in the communications industry: broadband. With the number of broadband users dramatically increasing especially through mobile technology and the latest in digital developments, there is a clear need for organizations to have business operations and technological support to cater for all of these changes, and to ensure that they remain at the forefront of what they do. I started out part-time working with Mercury Z while studying. I enjoyed my experience so much that I decided to join full-time upon graduating! Working for Mercury Z has given me the opportunity to learn and work with ISP equipment from DSL to Broadband. I've been able to go from building Virtual Paths, to configuring routers and modems to migrating static IPs. I love coming to work every day. I gained great work experience from my time at Mercury Z. Ed founded Mercury Z in 2009 to establish an organization to serve the world’s ever growing needs for broadband and network connectivity. Ed has a wealth of management experience, having served as Chairman and CEO of Butler International and its subsidiaries, including Butler Aviation, for 23 years where he led over 4000 employees serving blue chip telecommunications, defense, governmental and aerospace clients. Ed has managed over $6 billion of successful client engagements during his career in over 40 countries. He also served as CEO and publisher of Chief Executive Magazine. Ed has been a prolific writer and commentator on business matters with articles appearing in numerous outlets including The Wall Street Journal and Forbes and with regular TV and radio appearances on CNBC, Fox News, MSNBC and other media outlets. Mike brings his vast knowledge of complex network design to Mercury Z as a Senior Advisor. Mike was a solutions architect at Butler International for 9 years where he developed a range of innovative customer solutions from network designs to IP video surveillance systems. As a veteran of the US Air Force, Mike was a key contributor in the development and deployment of the Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN). Mike was also a Technologist at Verizon where he gained valuable experience in evaluating and integrating new technology. He has also achieved the highest level of Cisco professional certification becoming a Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE). Get in touch for business opportunities! Jim brings over 20 years of marketing, marketing technology and information systems experience to Mercury Z. Jim was previously Director of Digital Marketing at Nicopure Labs where he managed all of the company’s digital channels, and developed and implemented digital strategies. Prior to this role, he was a Director of Marketing Systems and Applications at Bisk Education, providing strategic and operational leadership to the company’s 140-person team of marketers. Jim was also Vice President of Marketing at Butler International with oversight of both the company’s marketing and those of Chief Executive magazine. Jim holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Rhode Island and a Master’s of Science in Information Systems from Hawaii Pacific University. Get in touch for business opportunities! Ken brings almost 35 years of experience to Mercury Z. He started his career pulling coax cables in support of military contracts for Electronic Data Systems, but quickly moved to building and transitioning GM to one of the world’s premier data centers in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Having learned the basics of networking and system management in support of customers, he moved from EDS to MCI (now Verizon) to understand work in the transport side if the telecommunications industry. Combining his knowledge of customer facing network management and transport technologies, Ken helped to build MCI’s Managed Network Services business. After 21 years at MCI/Verizon, Ken worked with Tait Communications to help the New Zealand Land Mobile Radio (LMR) manufacturer build a more complete services business by starting a Managed Service unit. The Managed Service would focus on the management of private LMR radio networks for Global Utilities and First Responders and be run out of two NOCs, one each in Houston, TX and Christchurch, New Zealand. Now at Mercury Z, Ken is managing all aspects of the company's Professional Services business supporting IT and Security. The IT focus is project-based assisting customers with technology transitions such as storage, email, networking, and virtualization. The Security focus includes delivering assessments, tests, and compliance solutions such as PCI and HIPAA, Platform Security Assessments such as code/API reviews, physical and logical penetration testing; Vulnerability, Penetration, Social Engineering testing; and compliance with laws or regulations such as Sox, FERPA, GLBA, and NIST. Maria is Human Resources Manager at Mercury Z, joining the company with over a decade of experience managing a number of human resources programs, services and functions. Maria possesses strong knowledge of multi-state employment laws, compliance issues, and benefit plans. Maria is at the forefront of the recruitment process at Mercury Z, sourcing potential candidates, interviewing applicants, conducting background checks, managing on-boarding processes, and negotiating offers. She draws talented individuals to Mercury Z and also drives the Mercury Z Project Support service by sourcing technical expertise for client projects.
