McLain Foods Incorporated has a long history in the Poultry business. It began four generations ago when the family first emigrated from Ireland and settled in St. Louis, Missouri. Once there, the great-grandparents purchased agricultural products from local rural farm communities such as rabbits, calves, chickens and eggs from the local rural farm communities then sold them in town on a daily basis. As a result of their hard work, the McLain Brothers Poultry Company family business was born. In 1965, after years of processing and distributing poultry, Joseph McLain bought the business and changed the name to Joseph C. McLain & Company, Inc. He ran the company by himself until his son Mark joined the business in 1977. In 1991, after working together for over thirteen years, the company was sold to Mark. One year later, Mark moved the company from St. Louis to St. Petersburg, Florida, where McLain Foods Inc. is currently headquartered.
