During that time, we have performed roof replacement projects on many large commercial properties, including malls, grocery stores, schools, high-rise office buildings, condominiums, and military bases. McCurdy-Walden has experience in roofs of all sizes, from the 1,500 SF scoreboards at the Jacksonville Jaguars Stadium to the 1,200,000 SF Winn Dixie Distribution Center in Baldwin, Florida. We install roof systems close to home in Jacksonville, Florida and as far away as El Salvador in Central America. McCurdy-Walden employs more than 70 skilled employees ready to serve our customers. We have all of the latest commercial roofing tools, including over 35 trucks, motorized roofing equipment, elastomeric coatings spray-rigs, cranes, and our own roll-off dumpsters. We adhere to all of the OSHA safety regulations for fall protection and conduct frequent safety meetings for the entire company. We are insured to $5,000,000.00 and currently have an A family-owned business that treats you like family When the commercial roofing company that employed Stan McCurdy and Gene Walden suddenly closed its doors in the summer of 1986, it left many people without a job and many building owners without a roofing contractor. There was an immediate need to start a new commercial roofing company to save the jobs of their loyal employees and complete the many open contracts left by the old roofing company. McCurdy-Walden, Inc. was born! Luckily, building owners and general contractors allowed McCurdy-Walden, Inc. to take over where the old roofing company left off, catapulting the new company to the top of the commercial market at an early age. Six years later, Gene Walden's sons Mark and Jonathan joined the company. McCurdy-Walden doubled its annual income the following year and has been growing ever since. In 2000, Gene Walden purchased Stan McCurdy's shares to become sole owner of McCurdy-Walden, Inc. In 2008, the torch was passed to the sons to run the day-to-day operations. 2012, selling the company to his sons, Mark & Jonathan. McCurdy-Walden immediately became a 2 generation company. With the statistics against them, only 30% of 2 year; Mark and Jonathan made some major changes to the company, took a few small risks and elevated the company to its best ever year since opening its doors in 1986. McCurdy-Walden continues to thrive behind the leadership of Mark and Jonathan Walden and the future is bright. Mark Walden began his career with McCurdy-Walden, Inc. in 1990, working as a roofer’s helper during summer breaks while attending the University of North Florida. He started full time in 1993 as an estimator, eventually moving up to Vice president and chief project manager. In 2012, Mark took over as President of the company with the departure of his father, Gene Walden to retirement. Over his career, Mark has procured and successfully completed over $150,000,000.00 in commercial roofing projects. Mark holds a bachelor's degree from the University of North Florida and has a certified roofing contractor's license. Mark also completed 3 years in NRCA’s "Future Executive Institute" at the Kellogg School of Management program at Northwestern University. With 20 years in the roofing industry Jonathan has managed and completed nearly all of McCurdy-Walden's projects. In 2012, Jonathan took over as Chief Operating Officer of the company with the departure of his father, Gene Walden to retirement. He field managed the 1.2 million SF, Winn Dixie Distribution Center, and the St. Johns Town Center projects to name a few. He manages a workforce of over 70 roofing professionals, with the task of keeping them safe on projects and trained in the latest roofing systems. Jonathan manages the day to day operations of all of the company’s projects, maintains over 30 trucks, upholds a rigorous safety program and has been the main reason why McCurdy-Walden is profitable year after year! Orion has been in the roofing and waterproofing industry for over 17 years involved in projects all over the state of Florida. He has overseen large roof replacement projects and entire maintenance and waterproofing divisions. Orion is proficient in all types of roofing, repairs & waterproofing such as modified bitumen, single ply, shingles, metal roofing, exterior wall coatings, deck coatings, tilt-wall joint replacements, window systems and full building envelope projects. Orion enjoys working in the roofing business, but his passion is his family, spending all his free time with this wife and two daughters. Tom Sandlin, Director of Business Development Tom is a Jacksonville native, veteran of the US Army, graduate of The Florida State University and father of two amazing children. Tom has 17 years of experience working in and around the construction industry the majority of which he assisted the architectural & interior design communities developing specifications for masonry and hard tile projects. Tom joined McCurdy-Walden, Inc. as Director of Business Development in March 2011 says this is the best company he has ever had the privilege of working with. Tom is now in charge of developing business relationships with new and existing clients in order to procure more roofing business for McCurdy-Walden.
