Dr. Maya graduated with Honors from Nova Southeastern College of Optometry in 1998 and has been providing quality Vision Care to patients at Maya Vision Center in Plantation since 2004.
Many people may ask why it is necessary for a Contact Lens Exam after a Routine Eye Exam has already determined an accurate prescription for glasses. This is because a Routine Eye Exam will not provide some of the measurements and testing that are required to see if contact lens wear is right for you. In addition, because contact lenses perform differently than glasses due to their proximity to your eye, your contact lens prescription and your glasses prescription may or may not be the same.
You will, in most cases, leave the office with a pair of contacts to try out before making a final decision on lens purchase. It may be necessary to follow up the initial fitting with some changes in fit or materials to be sure you achieve the most comfortable contact lens experience. Patients are also trained in proper contact lens hygiene to avoid complications or infections that can be involved with incorrect contact lens use.
