MAXIJET, INC., DUNDEE

[email protected] “Maxijet – Saving water for generations to come.” It’s not just our motto. It’s who we are as a company. It is what we believe. We began with the concept that we could teach local farmers and growers how to save water, while allowing their trees to be healthier. That simple idea, of saving water in irrigation, has grown worldwide. Maxijet is leading the way with new innovations allowing farmers to do their best to save water while producing their plants. In this we are saving water for generations to come, so that our children and their children can live long and prosperous lives. Maxijet, Inc. is a U.S. manufacturer of quality, low-volume irrigation products. The Thayer family, a fifth-generation of Florida citrus grower, has pioneered this low-volume spray jet technology from 1972 to present day. Tom Thayer discovered this technology during a citrus conference in South Africa in 1972. After successfully testing the micro jets on citrus groves locally with the University of Florida’s Professor Dr. Robert Koo, Tom introduced this technology to other citrus growers. As the owner of Southern Citrus Nurseries, Tom created a synergetic relationship between the companies by selling the growers this micro-spray jet technology to more efficiently water their newly planted citrus trees. This low-volume irrigation had many positive effects on our industry by increasing the trees’ yield, saving water, applying the water directly to the trees roots, creating fertigation by injecting liquid fertilizer through the jets, and in the winter months giving frost protection to the trees by increasing the dew point during freezing temperatures. In the late ’70s, Tom gave our industry one of the greatest inventions, the “Clip Stake”. This innovation allowed the jet to be raised above the ground from the poly tubing. Tom got the idea using a tent stake in his own grove and taping it to the extension. This one product has made a huge impact in our industry, as we clearly see by the millions sold each year. In 1981, Tom changed the company name and incorporated Maxijet, Inc. In 1985, following in the family’s footsteps, Tom’s middle child Samuel Thayer joined the company. Sam had previously started his irrigation and landscape installation company, Bird Irrigation in 1982. Sam used his field experience to bring to the company several inventions and innovations to both landscape and agriculture irrigation products. His first was coloring the stakes with trademarked colors orange and green to give the products the brand identities of Maxijet and Mister Landscaper. With the hard work of Dianne Halliday, vice president; Tim Geiger, plant manager; and Tim Wert, toolmaker; they have built an incredible team of employees, and many have been with the company from 10 to 25 years. With all their combined efforts and passions to be the best, the company continually strives to exceed its customers’ expectations in quality irrigation products and customer service. All of us here a Maxijet want to say thank you and to let all our customers know how much we appreciate your business and support! The Maxijet Team “Growers Producing Products to Meet the Needs of Other Growers” Tom Thayer, Sr.’s, great grandparents planted their first citrus grove in Avon Park, Florida, in 1910. Since then, citrus has remained in the family. Sam and Tommy — part of the current generation of growers — own groves together under the company name T & S Groves. Tommy also owns Southern Citrus Nursery and T-Two Grove Care. Ginny Dunson is the eldest child and has her own interior design business – Ginny’s Creative Design – and own citrus with her husband Les Dunson III, who owns Dunson Harvesting. Citrus really does run in the Thayer blood. Sam and Tommy are the first of the family to plant blueberries and now have 78 acres of blueberries with their company Thayer Berry Hill. The brothers are also growing 3 acres of peaches behind Maxijet and Mister Landscaper as a trial. “ I am really excited about the opportunities as a grower in Florida and the privilege to make several quality low-volume irrigation products to efficiently water these various crops” Sam Thayer, President/CEO, Maxijet, Inc. [email protected] Sam Thayer’s vision in the mid-80s was to create a company that offered high-quality Maxijet products to the do-it-yourself consumer. After running Maxijet for several years with Dianne Halliday, the two decided to launch a retail division, Mister Landscaper, Inc., in 1991. Mister Landscaper has been successfully selling to the retail industry across the U.S. since then and has been in partnership with Lowe’s since 1992. It has been an extreme honor to sell to Lowe’s for over 21 years now and to have grown with them. They are such an awesome company to work with! “Our product offering to the consumer makes their lives so much easier – high-quality, low-volume irrigation products that efficiently water landscapes and gardens.” Mister Landscaper has the perfect number of products, giving the consumer a wide variety of micro-sprays and drippers from which to choose. These are packaged in smaller quantities, with simple instructions to meet the needs of most homeowner flowerbeds and gardens. We even made our retail products with a more ergonomic design to make them easy to snap together and install! Mister Landscaper received the honor of being recognized as Supplier of the Year for the Lowe’s Companies, Inc., Rough Plumbing Department in 2002 and 2006. We have the absolute best team of employees working hard every day to give Lowe’s the best products, packaged perfectly, shipped complete and on time! If your irrigation dealership openly sells to the public, you may want to consider adding Mister Landscaper packaging to your store. You would then have the winning combination: Maxijet for the commercial user/contractor and Mister Landscaper for the homeowner/consumer. Check it out at
