Extremely civic-minded, Mashburn is committed to helping others and giving back to the community. In 1993, before he ever signed his first professional basketball contract, he donated $500,000 to establish and endow the Mashburn Scholarship Fund at the University of Kentucky. Mashburn currently sits on the Board of Directors for the National Forest Foundation and has served on the Advisory Board for Central Bank & Trust Company in Lexington, KY from 2005-2008. He also ensures that each of his businesses actively participate in their local communities by way of donations to various charitable organizations. Wife, mother of two, co-founder of the Mashburn Family Foundation, and dedicated advocate against childhood obesity. Have always had a love for sports and fitness, that passion intensified after the birth of their two kids. Michelle began her journey training and educating her self on bodybuilding and overall fitness health. She pursued and completed certifications in personal training, spinning, cardio boxing, Zumba and turbo kick. “Fitness has and continues to be a large part of our lives. Understanding the importance of educating the entire family about the benefits of incorporating fitness and healthy eating is a key message we teach to our children and a fundamental reason we created this platform under the foundation. The Mashburn Family Foundation, a 501 (c ) 3 nonprofit organization created June 2009 to raise funds to provide scholarships, mentoring programs and fitness camps for elementary, middle and high school youth. The program seeks to build partnerships with local school districts, youth service agencies and businesses. The Foundation goal is to serve at risk youth between the ages of 10-17 by creating opportunities that engage, educate and empower the hopes and dreams of today’s youth for a healthier, stronger tomorrow.
