Mary Davis is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Professor Davis is interested in a broad range of public health topics relevant to policy and planning. Her interdisciplinary training in economics, statistics, and environmental health has provided her a unique depth of knowledge to contribute across both the science and policy fields. Her research has focused on the health of susceptible subpopulations such as children and workers, which have included fishermen, truckers, and developing world sweatshop workers. Dr. Davis has also contributed significantly to the fields of statistics and economics, as well as air pollution modeling and health effects. She has served on numerous National Academy of Sciences panels, including two as chairwoman. Her active research interests include a project funded by the Department of Labor exploring the dynamics of gig economy pay structure on worker health outcomes. Professor Davis teaches urban planning and policy courses in economics, public health, built environment and active transportation, and statistics.
