, is a competitive swim club located in Stuart, Florida.   The team consists of members from Stuart and the surrounding communities.  The Florida Gold Coast league consists of 58 teams located in Martin, Palm Beach, Broward and Dade counties.  Martin County Swimming primarily competes at swim meets hosted by various Florida Gold Coast clubs throughout the year.  In addition, Martin County Swimming traditionally hosts two meets per year,  one in September and the other in January.  Martin County Swimming has endeavoured to maintain its commitment to be a family oriented club that is reasonably accessible to all interested swimmers. MART offers Masters swimming and has been teaching children of all ages to swim competitively since 1973.  Three head coaches have led the team over the years, including founding coach Gary Shelt (1973 to 1980); coach Dick Wells (1980 to 1995), and current coach, Jim McCombs.   Martin County Swimming (MART) is a coach-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization supported by parents and Masters Swimmers. USA Swimming and the Florida Gold Coast Swimming (FGC) govern our club. MART has been serving Martin County and surrounding communities for over thirty-nine years, providing a year-round program for athletes. The club operates in Stuart, Florida at the Dick Wells Training Center located at Martin County High School. Martin County Swimming strives to help its swimmers gain a strong work ethic, great physical conditioning, mental toughness, goal setting and achievement skills, and strong self-esteem. Active participation in MART provides opportunities for social and emotional development, a wholesome and worthwhile physical and recreational outlet, opportunities to learn sportsmanship and awareness of team cooperation, an educational environment, opportunities to learn good health habits, training and competition that will aid in the development of worthwhile attitudes, a wide base of experience for all and not just the highly skilled, and opportunities to develop good working habits and self-evaluation. Martin County Swimming Events  competed in club swimming and also  with the U.S. Army, making the 1980 Olympic Trial Cuts in the 100, 200, 500, and 1650 Freestyle.  Unfortunately, the USA boycotted the 1980 Olympics.  His 30+ year coaching career has taken him from New Hampshire to Georgia and Florida.  Coach
