The Story of MarketAtomy The MarketAtomy Concept In August of 2012 I was hit by one of Brazil’s rapid buses while crossing the street to my apartment in Copacabana. The resulting 8 weeks of recovery in Brazil before I was allowed to fly home and additional 4 months of surgeries and rehab put a serious dent in my entrepreneurial efforts in not only Brazil but also home in the US. About 2 weeks after returning to the United States I was diagnosed with PTSD as a result of the accident. My business hit a brick wall. Not only did my efforts in Brazil stop, but because of the PTSD I struggled to get back to business as usual in the US for fear of reliving my accident and the pain all over again. During my recovery time however, the universe was not going to let me hide away. I had many colleagues and friends visit me exasperated because they had started their new businesses and were struggling to bring customers through their doors. They were and couldn’t figure out how to turn the situation around. Through the process of consulting and mentoring them I uncovered that they had launched their businesses because they couldn’t find work during the recession and still needed to pay their bills. They started with a good product or service, but did not know how to build a business around it. As I continued to mentor them, I realized that I needed to find a way to communicate the concept of what a successful business looks like in a manner they would understand and comprehend. Hence, the introduction of MarketAtomy.
