At the current time, most of our professional staff has been with the firm more than seven years. Current management and ownership has been in place since 1999. Market Decisions was founded as a commercial research firm in 1977, initially focusing on business feasibility and site location studies using data gleaned from existing or secondary sources. In the early 1980s, we added data collection to our services to provide primary data for decision-making. In these early years, we primarily served Maine-based businesses and governments and developed a reputation for high-quality research. Soon, our work attracted the attention and business of large companies including Blue Cross Blue Shield, LL Bean, Bose, and Microsoft. By the millennium, a change in ownership brought new leadership, Curtis A. Mildner, an executive with over 20 years of experience in marketing and sales, and we had grown from a small partnership to a full-service research firm with a dozen researchers and an interviewing and data entry staff of close to 50. Today, we conduct research assignments for clients in 25 states. Each year we administer more than 50-100 research studies on a wide variety of topics from public policy to branding to feasibility. Our assignments range in size from a few thousand dollars to multi-year contracts over a million dollars. Our clients include government agencies, non-profit organizations and private businesses. Market Decisions Research In addition to our on-site call center, we have our own focus group facility. It is an oversized 18′ by 20′ room with a handy display shelf that extends on two sides. Built-in audio and video equipment assures accurate recording. Local area network connections provide Internet connectivity. The focus group viewing room comfortably seats 6-8 and features a raised floor for unobstructed viewing. A full-length work surface provides a place for laptops and direct Internet access allows remote communications. For special evenings, catering of gourmet fare, including native lobster, is available. Clients enter through an entrance at the rear of the facility, completely separated from group participants.
