Mark Black Academy is a fully licensed, well-respected and comprehensive basketball program that coaches and mentors the youth who are in need of support from their communities. Our program provides a safe and healthy haven for kids of all backgrounds to develop and master their skill in the art of basketball while impacting their overall development and growth. We enjoy bringing out the best in every player by teaching the essence of America’s beloved sport of Basketball. We encourage those who exhibit a passion for the sport, to reach higher and aim for excellence. We want every player to bring their skills and talents to the next level. We want our members to dream big and go beyond any limitations imposed by their environment or background. We want them to realize that anything is possible with hard work, determination and the audacity of making hope a reality. This innovative program combines years of experience, knowledge of the intricate workings of the human anatomy, mastered sports techniques and above all, discipline and value. Members of Mark Black Academy receive basketball instruction in small group settings and are involved in a series of drills that give them the opportunity to work on their individual skills. Individual player strength is fostered through this program, which results in the physical and emotional growth of the team as a whole. As a result of this approach, members learn, not only the sport but life skills that build character and impact every other aspect of their lives. Our lessons go beyond the basketball court; they are life lessons. The skills learned at Mark Black Academy can be applied to life as they encourage personal growth with emphasis on achieving both sports and academic goals. These are skills that our members will practice well into college and beyond. We believe that teaching these life skills is as important as teaching how to play great basketball. Some of the life skills our members gain as a result of our approach are teamwork, integrity, confidence and high self-esteem. We want our members to have faith in their abilities, to dream big, to live big and to pay it forward. We are confident in our program’s ability to change lives for the greater good. We truly believe that no child should be left behind no matter their circumstances. We believe in giving every child the tools and opportunities to develop their abilities and excel. Children who otherwise would be faced with limited opportunities and dismal outlooks are given a chance to flourish, to be a part of something greater than their imagination and bigger than their situation. This is a mission we strive for and a “blessing” we aim to provide. In essence, our top priority is to keep kids off of the streets and out of trouble. We want to break the cycle of negativity and poverty. This program will offer a different alternative that will allow our members to grow into men and women who live better lives and who become not just spectators, but active participants in society who provide for themselves in ways never thought possible and who help others achieve what they have attained.
