It all began in Margot Wilder’s home when an overabundance of cucumbers was taking over her kitchen. She decided to turn her bountiful harvest into hand-crafted, refrigerated pickles using a family recipe. She shared the crisp treats with her family and friends, but eventually, the demand grew greater than Margot’s kitchen could handle. In 2013, Margot and Nick DeConna founded Margot’s Impeccable Pickles. Margot and Nick began making the pickles in a Gainesville, Fla., nonprofit commercial kitchen in much larger quantities, local retailers started calling and the rest is history.
Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Margot moved to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida with every intention of attending culinary school after graduation. But life got in the way, and Margot settled down in Gainesville where she enjoys cooking and entertaining for friends and family. In 2014, Margot won the Gainesville Harley-Davidson Chili Cook-off and her chili recipe is featured on the menu at a local pub. Margot is also well known for her annual Paella party where she cooks her family recipe for seafood Paella. Margot is a professional fundraiser and has a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Florida.
Nick DeConna is a Gainesville native and the third generation in his family’s ice cream business. Nick graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in advertising. After graduation, Nick worked in advertising for almost 10 years before joining DeConna Ice Cream as the vice president of business development. Nick considers himself a serial entrepreneur with several other food ventures. Nick can clearly remember the first time he tasted Margot’s Impeccable Pickles and has been hooked ever since. Nick loves to fish, golf and enjoy craft beer with his friends.
