The Lynn Haven Ledger is your source for learning about our community, whether you are interested in town events, school activities, or just local stories. Our mission is to be a source of positive, informative, entertaining and down-to-earth content. The Ledger publishes on Friday, every two weeks. The Health Care Monthly is a publication of the Lynn Haven Ledger and is included once a month with the Ledger publication, as well as additional copies printed for distribution in surrounding counties. It is distributed in Gulf, Jackson, Washington, Holmes and Walton, in addition to Bay, counties. The Lynn Haven Ledger was founded by Jim and Donna Vavala (pictured above right) in 2009. The couple had many years of experience in the newspaper business, but it was still quite difficult for them to get the paper off the ground. However, over the years, a reliable community newspaper for Lynn Haven residents had finally taken shape. In March of 2015, the paper, including the Health Care Monthly, had grown enough to be sold to its current owners, Brian and Catherine Davis (pictured, above left). For 30 years, Brian, an Indiana native, has focused his career on information technology and managing all aspects of business in the corporate world before moving into consulting about five years ago. Catherine, who hails from St. Augustine, has been an administrative assistant at Exxon Corporation in Texas, a para teacher in the Bay County School system and still remains a Mary Kay consultant and a HealthPlex fitness instructor locally. “We love Lynn Haven,” says Brian. “The Lynn Haven Ledger and Health Care Monthly reflect everything good about this community. We look forward to carrying on the good work Donna and Jim began six years ago. We see this as an opportunity to help the businesses here become stronger, to offer positive news and share information. We are fortunate to be able to involve our family as part of this endeavor.” Catherine is especially thrilled about bringing their children into the family business if they so choose and likened the experience to something the Dalai Lama once said about giving the ones you love wings to fly, roots to come back and reasons to stay.
