About Love A Child Bobby and Sherry Burnette stand amid the crowds in a Haitian village, where they provide food and medical supplies. Love A Child, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Founders Bobby and Sherry Burnette live year-round in Haiti at the Love A Child Orphanage. They are full-time missionaries who minister to the poorest of the poor in Haiti and work to spread the Word of God, showing Christ’s love by example. There are over 8,500 children that are educated and fed each day at all of our 18 Love A Child Schools. The Love A Child Orphanage provides a loving Christian home to abandoned and orphaned children. With the help of our partners and volunteer missionary teams, we attend to the most vital and seemingly basic of needs. We also establish churches, repair and build houses and structures in villages. And, perhaps our most exciting work is the Food for Life sustainability programs that will ultimately empower Haitians to earn a living wage and break the cycle of poverty. are founders and directors of Love A Child, Inc. They began their ministry by preaching on street corners, under gospel tents, in auditoriums and churches. In 1971, they made their first trip to Haiti. Although they continued to minister in many countries, their hearts always went back to Haiti. They moved to Haiti in 1991 and have never looked back. They work to help those living in poverty in Haiti. Nelio is Love A Child’s Haitian Director overseeing the entire ministry here on the island. Some of his key responsibilities are: to facilitate the clearing of containers through Customs, their delivery to Fond Parisien, and distribution of food. Nelio comes from the village of Bethel (Petit Des Dunes). He was in our Child Sponsorship Program and was able to complete his education. Sherry worked in the Bethel area where Nelio was born and when he was young she taught him English by writing words in the dust that had collected on her truck windows. Years later, Bobby and Sherry discovered Nelio, probably only 19 and very skinny, working under the hood of an old car. As Bobby saw him working there, he turned to Sherry and said, “Sherry, the Lord told me that young boy under the hood of that car will one day oversee the entire Love A Child ministry in Haiti.” And, so it is…Great wisdom comes from listening to the Lord. It takes many helpers to care for God’s children in the Love A Child Orphanage. Right now, we have seventy-plus children living in our orphanage, but it feels like a hundred! The staff helps provide a healthy lifestyle for all our orphans. manages our kitchen and prepares meals for mission teams working in Haiti. She has been on staff here for over two decades. is responsible for housekeeping at the Love A Child Orphanage. He has been working at Love A Child for over 20 years. is our head “laundry lady.” Can you imagine all the dirty clothes created from over seventy-plus orphans? Kitley has taught the rest of the laundry staff how to use the automatic washing machines and irons. Kitley has been with Love A Child since 1991. Helping the children with their homework every day after school is something that every staff member takes part in. Love A Child owes its success in large part to these dedicated men and women. We are truly blessed to have each and every one of them on our side. Once the clothes are washed and folded, some of the children pitch in to help the ladies put them away. At the orphanage, we teach the children the importance of taking care of their clothes. Passing on to the children the value of doing chores is a big job, and vital to the education we provide them. chapter, Moses leaves Egypt with the Israelite slaves. Bible scholars estimate the numbers to be “way over two million.” After long travels, they find themselves in the Sinai desert, which has only about two inches of rainfall a year and temperatures rising to over 100 degrees! There were no stores, no water sources…only God. This same God had to provide “bread from Heaven, water from a rock, and keep their clothes and shoes from rotting away.” And just think, “sometimes we can’t trust this same God to pay our light bill when it is due!” How big is your God? He’s big enough! Have a great day because you serve a “great God!” This sweetie is Daphline Louis, and she was born in the remote mountain village of Savaan Roche. Her mother Jolucia died of complications shortly after her birth. Her father left poor Daphline with her mother’s sister, whose husband had recently been murdered. Daphline’s aunt was unable to take care of her because she already had nine children, including a newborn baby, to feed. Trying to find food for all of them was too much for her aunt. She brought Daphline and her cousin Jolina to the Love A Child Children’s Home to join our huge family. We made sure Daphline received three hot nourishing meals each day with lots of hugs, and she quickly improved. Daphline enjoys playing with her sisters, going to school and dancing. Thank you partners for changing another life in Haiti. Bobby and Sherry Alvin is doing very well, and he is “well cared for” by people in Florida during his medical treatment.
