Welcome to Longwood Pediatrics, excellence in Family Centered Primary Care. When you call our main number 617-277-7320 during regular business hours, you will be prompted to select one of the options listed below. Calling our office after our regular business hours (evenings, weekends and Holidays) Longwood Pediatrics has 24-hour telephone coverage for urgent concerns. After hours calls are answered by well-trained pediatric nurses who follow protocols approved by Longwood Pediatrics. In the case of serious emergencies or complicated problems, a Longwood Pediatrics physician is always available. If at any time, you would like to speak to a physician, please ask the triage nurse to page the physician-on-call. A physician is always on-call and can be reached for emergencies after our regular business hours. You can reach us by calling our main number (617-277-7320). Our answering service and nurse triage service are available to assist you and will contact the physician on-call if needed. Garage parking is available on either side of our office—in the 333 Longwood Avenue Building Garage (entrance off Binney St.) or in the Children’s Hospital Garage (entrance off Blackfan Circle). These are “Pay on Foot” parking garages, so please remember to take your parking slip with you so you can pay for your parking before you return to your car. We do not provide vouchers for parking. We do not validate parking for any of the garages. (Helpful when trying to avoid game day traffic) If your child has ingested anything that you are concerned may be dangerous (eg. Medications, household products, etc) call poison control immediately and follow the hotline’s advice prior to contacting your physician: If your child is sick or injured and you feel your problem is urgent, but not an emergency requiring 911, please call our office 617.277.7320, listen to the prompts and press . You will be immediately connected to a nurse who will assess your problem over the phone. Usually in these situations we can suggest immediate steps you can take to start helping your child and see you promptly in the office. However, occasionally your child’s problem is best taken care of in an emergency room and we will direct you to take your child there Night Nurse is a leading pediatric advice service that provides experienced pediatric nurse practitioners and nurses who can assess your child’s symptoms and answer urgent health questions over the phone after office hours. They bring a wealth of clinical expertise to their contacts with you, and parents appreciate Night Nurse’s prompt responses and detailed, helpful advice. Making An Appointment The physicians, nurses and staff at Longwood Pediatrics are honored that you have chosen us as your health care providers. Our goal is to provide quality healthcare to your child and to make your visit as quick and efficient as is medically necessary. If you would like your child to be seen for a sick visit, please call the office for an appointment during regular business hours. If you would like to schedule a follow up appointment or a routine physical appointment, please either call the office between 8:30 am & 5:30 pm on weekdays or log into the patient portal. Please note that when using the patient portal you will receive a response within 72 hours but no later than 5 business days. We try to keep the phones available from 8:30 am to 10 am to schedule urgent, sick, same day appointments. Your Primary Care Provider Our physicians work closely with the nurse practitioners in our office. All the nurse practitioners are ANCC credentialed and specialize in pediatrics. They can provide care to your children when they are sick or for routine care. The physicians often alternate routine well visits with the nurse practitioners so that two providers know your children and their healthcare needs Our schedules are released for booking 1 year in advance on the 1st of the month. Due to the high volume of routine physical appointments, especially during the summer months, it is important that you call the office to schedule your appointment as soon as possible. Please call the office during regular business hours to schedule a routine appointment. In an effort to help you remember a scheduled appointment, we confirm our appointments by telephone 48 hours in advance. However, it is the patient/family responsibility to keep the appointments that you have scheduled with us. Currently we are using Televox to make these calls to you. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please respond using the Televox prompts or call the office as soon as possible. Please note that we do not have walk-in appointments available. If you want a sibling to be seen with another child, please call so we can be prepared for the visit. Please allow time for traffic and parking. If you arrive more than 20 minutes late for your appointment, you may be asked to reschedule. Despite all our efforts to maintain an on time schedule, sometimes the providers run late due to unexpected emergencies. We are happy to enable our patient families to renew their existing prescriptions through two different mechanisms. If you are signed up, you can use our Patient Portal to renew your prescriptions. If you prefer, you can contact your pharmacy directly and have them send an electronic refill request to us. You can learn how to do this below. Please call your pharmacy and ask them to send an electronic prescription refill request to Longwood Pediatrics. We will then electronically approve the request, if appropriate, and have it ready for you within 2 business days. Longwood Pediatrics is pleased to be able to provide our patient’s and their families with an online method for performing many of your routine non-medical tasks. Our Patient Portal allows you access 24-hours per day. Through our Patient Portal you can perform the following actions: Signing up for our Patient Portal is very easy. One of our Front Desk staff would be happy to help you either when you call our office at 617-277-7320 or in person when you are visiting us. All we need is your email address. With the click of a mouse you will automatically be sent an email with your new username and password.
