Welcome to the Local Media Consortium Founded in 2013, the Local Media Consortium (LMC) is a strategic partnership of local newspapers, broadcast stations and digital media companies across the United States, totaling more than 75 members representing more than 1,700 digital properties. The LMC is committed to leveraging the latest technology and partnerships for increased revenue and audience growth to further the sustainability of local journalism. The LMC provides its members with access to leading technology and content solutions by fostering partnerships and symbiotic relationships with companies such as Google, Monster, Yahoo and others. By leveraging its sheer scale, the LMC is able to provide members with tools to succeed in digital publishing that most media companies would be unable to access on their own. In turn, the LMC’s technology partners gain streamlined access to and contracts with the majority of local media companies. As the LMC continues to evolve, its staff and board continually seek new opportunities and solutions for members and partners. Whether by taking a position on the matter of fake news, serving as the voice of local media looking to solve business challenges, conducting webinars or connecting its members and partners at bi-annual meetings, the LMC is committed to helping local media companies stay relevant. OUR MISSION The Local Media Consortium, a strategic partnership of leading local media companies representing more than 1,600 daily newspapers and hundreds of major local broadcast outlets in the best markets in the nation. The Local Media Consortium, founded in 2006 as The Newspaper Consortium, is focused on increasing member companies’ potential share of digital revenue and audience by pursuing new relationships with a variety of technology companies and service providers. In a September 30, 2013 press release, we announced 32 member companies representing more than 800 local media outlets had agreed to join. Since then, the Local Media Consortium has grown substantially in membership (map), partnerships and influence. Our Mission The Local Media Consortium is focused on increasing member companies’ potential share of digital revenue and audience by pursuing new relationships with a variety of technology companies and service providers. The LMC exists to leverage the scale of the LMC membership to create new revenue and audience opportunities and implement solutions by creating an efficient marketplace for solutions providers and media companies.
