Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in 1986 after attending the University of Maryland – Baltimore County construction management program. Originally employed by W.W. Gay Mechanical, one of the largest mechanical contractors in the southeast, Darryl was assigned to the fire protection division. During his ten-year career at W.W. Gay Fire Protection, he ascended to the position of Vice President of Operations.
