LifeConnectors was founded by David and Tanya Wilkins, who collectively have over 60 years of combined experience in business, government and the social services. LifeConnectors vision is to connect young adults to others who can help them toward achieving life success. Over their years of marriage and raising their daughters, they have been very active in the local community and throughout the state helping those in need. They adopted the Florida Baptist Children’s home as their primary family mission field, serving as sponsor parents for foster children, launching different student programs and serving on the board of directors for the organization. They successfully co-founded and launched Orphans Heart, a faith-based global missions program serving orphaned children in impoverished countries, as well as serving in various roles with United Way of the Big Bend and other charitable organizations. Working hands-on with foster children and those who were less fortunate opened their eyes to the need for the services necessary to position children for success. Upon retiring from Accenture, David was appointed Secretary of the Department of Children and Families by Governor Rick Scott. He also served as the Chief Operating Officer and chaired the Children’s Cabinet for the State of Florida. Tanya was appointed as Chief Child Advocate for Foster Care and Adoption for the state and she also served on the board for the Heart Gallery, which promotes adoptions from foster care. These appointments and their experience in these platforms gave them the opportunity to apply their business acumen and passion for children on a much larger stage. It also reaffirmed their belief that faith-based and community organizations were paramount in leading the charge to helping those less fortunate. A strong spiritual life has always been the hallmark for the Wilkins family. They have been very active in their local church leading bible studies, youth groups, missions and providing pre-marital counseling for young couples. They recognize that having a Godly focus in their home has been the key to their success as a family. After serving in many varied roles of public service, raising their own children, mentoring foster children and living the ‘American dream’ in the business world, Tanya and David have seen firsthand, what true challenges exist for young adults in today’s world. They have witnessed what programs and initiatives work and what it truly takes to help young people overcome challenges. David and Tanya have discovered the business principles of empowerment and the value of connections and associations in one’s life is the key to a person’s success. Witnessing young adults realize success is what motivated David and Tanya to start LifeConnectors. They realize that too many young adults do not have these components in their lives and go through life without true direction. LifeConnectors is designed to help those less fortunate partner with people who will help empower them to achieve their life’s goals.
