LIFE AFTER MINISTRY, INC., Carmel

Kent is the Executive Director for North Central Kansas Teens For Christ, Inc., headquartered in Concordia, KS. His primary duties include the overseeing and production of the Teens For Christ Bible Clubs and Teens For Christ Rallies along with other youth ministry functions. He has been with North Central Kansas Teens For Christ since January, 1984. Kent is a graduate of Christ Unlimited Bible Institute, which was operated by a ministry formally known as Kansas City Youth For Christ. Kent has recently been added to the board of directors of the Nauvoo Christian Visitors Center. He has helped with their outreach programs for since 2001. His interest in counter cult ministry has grown since beginning serious research in 1998 and has sought to educate people in north central Kansas and south central Nebraska. “Science confirms the Bible ( The Lord has provided able bodied teachers of His word to serve the body of Christ, and one of the best was Professor Joseph P. Free who loved God with all his heart. He served tirelessly as an archaeologist from 1935 to 1974, and used his talent as a means to teach others and witness. You can read a memorial for him in the “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God”. At the Sunday evening session of General Conference, Russell Nelson announced the ‘retirement’ of the Visiting and Home Teaching Programs. See What he didn’t tell the audience is how this program would work, so we took a field trip over to their front page looking for more details, and of course what we read was sad indeed. This church is very talented at the bait and switch games you’ll see at State Fairs. The problem is they’re doing this with much higher stakes: your eternal life. By Joseph Smith’s own claim, the Christian churches were all wrong, all an abomination, all corrupt. This sounds to me like he was making a definite differentiation between your faith and mine. When I was a Mormon, I used to make the same argument that “Jesus Christ” is in the name of the church. The problem is that we are not talking about the same person. If I told you that I am a Christian because I believe in Jesus Christ—he’s a 40 year old guy that lives next door to me, you would probably tell me that that does not make me a Christian (at least I hope you would). The Jesus that historic Christianity believes in is fully God—equal with the Father; He has eternally been God; He is the creator of everything in the universe. The Jesus that Mormonism teaches is not fully God—he is not equal with the Father; He is a created being—there was a time when he was not; He is an exalted man and brother to Satan. These are not the same person. There are many other fundamental differences, but this gives you a sampling. 1 How is it that we can understand the fullness of the Gospel if we are not aware of where other “sects” have it wrong? By pointing out the truth of one statement, you must—by default—point out the error in a contradictory statement. It is only in our relativistic post-modern society that there has been an understanding of what is true for you is true for you and what is true for me is true for me. Truth is an objective thing. If something is indeed true, all conflicting statements are necessarily false. We have pretty much covered this, so I will just make a couple brief points. Historic Christianity, Mormonism, and Jehovah’s Witnesses do not have the same faith. We already looked at a few of the differences in our understanding of Jesus—to the Jehovah’s witness, Jesus is the archangel Michael. Also, in all three groups salvation is found in very different ways. There may be some similar language, but that is where the similarities end. So, if we are believing in a different God, and finding salvation in a different way, can we really call it the same faith? And, if the gospel is not the same in the three groups, how can it give you a deeper understanding of the Gospel other than to help you see the error of two of them in favor of the correct one? To mix them together, makes a gospel that is foreign to each—and we are back to post-modernism and relativism. The last section I wanted to point out was where you said, “As for the godhead, we do not believe in a tri-une God. Think of God more as a job title, God, the Father; Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit. They work together to help us find our way, but are not the same person or God is surely a great ventriloquist. They are unified in purpose, not body.” I hope this helps.
